GFT stands for "groente-, fruit en tuinafval" (vegetables, fruits and garden waste). This concerns natural or organic waste like fruit peels, vegetable scraps, weeds, mowed grass, small trimmings and food leftovers.

All household appliances (big or small) that use batteries, electricity or gas are in the appliances category. Examples are a washing machine, a stove, a television or a mobile phone. 

Construction waste is a collective term for basically all material that comes out of a renovation or demolition. Examples are rubble, plaster, wood, sand/soil, roofing, metal, sleepers, garden timbers, and asbestos/eternite.

PBD means plastic packaging, cans and drinking cartons. Examples are plastic bottles, soda cans or cartons of milk, yoghurt and fruit juice.

Any paper and cardboard waste is referred to as (scrap) paper. Newspapers, cartboard boxes and advertising flyers are some examples.

Bulky waste is bulky household waste that is too big or too heavy for a trash bag or container. Examples are old carpeting or broken furniture.

Household waste (general/residual waste) means waste from around the house that can't be separated to be reused or recycled. For example: cigarettes, cat litter, rubber or cork. 

This depends on your municipality.

The above-ground collection containers for plastic, paper and textiles are temporarily closed from the 31st December to the 2nd of January to protect them from fireworks. They're closed by hand on the 31st of December and reopened on the 2nd of January.

The containers stay normally open throughout New Year's.

Small chemical waste (klein chemisch afval, KCA) is residual waste containing chemicals that are bad for health and environment, like lead, mercury or organic solvents. Batteries, spray cans, gasoline and terpentine are examples of small chemical waste.

By plastic packaging we mean all empty plastic bags, vials, cups and lids. It only refers to packaging so old toys, video tapes and other plastic objects are not a part of this category.

Glass waste refers to glass packaging like empty jars of peanut butter, pasta sauce, deodorant rollers, wine bottles and perfume.

Asbestos is a material that, in the past, was used for construction material, like corrugated sheets and cement. Today it's no longer allowed to use asbestos, but it's often still present in older houses. For example in roofing, walls and window sills. 

Textile waste consists of old clothes, shoes, towels and other textiles like bedding and curtains.

Household waste is non-recyclable. It is burned in large ovens. This generates energy (electricity) and heat. The leftover product can be used for example as building materials, like road foundations.

Residents of low-rise houses/apartments (single-family homes) have their own grey container (kliko). This is at the house and is emptied every two weeks. Residents of high-rise buildings (flats and appartments) have an underground container available for household waste near their building. You open this with your Cure environmental card (Eindhoven), your municipal card (Geldrop-Mierlo) or your environmental card (Valkenswaard).

Yes, GFT (vegetable, fruit and garden waste) can go in the household waste container. You can also put it in an underground container to minimalise odors.

If you've been appointed an underground container, you can open this with your Cure environmental card, municipal card or environmental card.

It can be an inconvenience when your container hasn't been fully emptied.

Check the contents to see if there is any blockage in the container. If the container is packed too tight, that can also be the reason the contents didn't fully come out.

In these cases, we request you remove the blockage. Then, you place the container by the street as usual on the next emptying date.

Residents of Valkenswaard should also report to the police if their container (kliko) is missing.

Geldrop-Mierlo

New residents of an existing or new home can request a municipal card for free within 6 weeks after registering. You can do this with our customer service. You do need to be officially registered to the address.  After 6 weeks you'll pay €15 for the municipal card.

Valkenswaard

New residents of an existing or new home can request a environmental card for free within 3 months after registering. You can do this with our customer service. You do need to be officially registered to the address. This also counts when you move within the municipality. After 3 months, you'll pay €15 for the environmental card.

No, you cannot take waste from the waste recycling points home.

If your environmental card is broken, you can request a new one for free. If you have lost your environmental card, you can request a new one for €15. In both cases, contact your municipality.

You can bring up to 35 m² to the waste recycling points. To do this, you'll have to contact the Cure customer service at least one day in advance. Call 040-2500 130 to report the asbestos. 

Asbestos requires double packaging in a thick, plastic foil (at least 2mm thick, available at the construction store). The creases need to be carefully folded and taped shut. Asbestos that isn't (properly) packed will NOT be accepted. It is not allowed to pack asbestos at one of the waste recycling points.

Residents of Valkenswaard need to present a demolition notice. You can request or print this on the municipality's website.

Eindhoven

Residents of Eindhoven can use the following waste recycling points, upon presentation of a valid Cure environmental card: 
- Lodewijkstraat 9 (5652 AC, Eindhoven)
- Achtseweg Noord 41 (5651 GG Eindhoven)

Geldrop-Mierlo

Residents of Geldrop, Mierlo and Heeze-Leende can use the following waste recycling point upon presentation of their municipality/environmental card and valid ID: Waste recycling point Industrieweg, Industriepark 8 (5663 PG, Geldrop).

Valkenswaard

Residents of Valkenswaard and Heeze-Leende can use the following waste recycling point upon presentation of their municipality/environmental card and valid ID: Waste recycling point De Vest (De Vest 15, 5555 XL, Valkenswaard) ingang via De Oase.

Only residents of Geldrop-Mierlo can use the waste recycling points. Camping visitors cannot bring their waste here.

To enter the waste recycling point, you need valid ID. Make sure you always have your Cure environmental card (Eindhoven), municipal card (Geldrop-Mierlo), environmental card (Valkenswaard) or waste recycling point card (Heeze-Leende) and your ID. Without these cards, you will not gain access to the waste recycling points.

A waste recycling point is a collection point to bring bulky waste. This means bulky waste, great amounts of waste (like gardening waste), or waste from consumer goods like fridges and household appliances.

If your Cure environmental card is broken, you can request a new one through the Cure customer service.

When you request a new Cure environmental card, your old one will be blocked. If you find your old card after requesting a new one, you will not be able to use the old one anymore. You can dispose of the card the way you would of PBD (Plastic, Cans and Drinking cartons).

A new Cure environmental card costs €15,00. 

Yes, you can. If you don't live in Eindhoven, you can still offer waste from an address in Eindhoven. In this case, you can use the Cure environmental card connected to that address.

NB: the first 12 visits each year are free. From the 13th visit you will pay €20 per 2 cubic metres.

You can only pay by card.

Per visit to a waste recycling point, you can offer 2 m3 of waste. The waste should be sorted. 

Eindhoven

At some moments, the waste recycling points can be very busy and have long lines. You can take this into account by visiting at a quieter time.

Generally, the waste recycling points in Eindhoven are mainly busy at the weekend. The waiting times can run up to half an hour.

Quiet times:

- Monday to Saturday: the last two hours before closing;
- Tuesday and Thursday.

The new app no longer has the function to connect collection data to your own calendar. That's why it's no longer possible to load the data into your Google or Apple calendar.

If we offer this function, the app has less added value. We want people to use the app for collection days, because it allows us to actively inform on news and to edit changes in the collection dates. Like when waste is collected early, or when a catch up day is coming up related to a holiday. We can edit this easily in the app and inform you with a notification. A calendar connection makes this impossible.

You can switch on notifications per waste type. In the app, you do this in settings (you find it in the menu or on the top right). In the digital waste calendar under 'notifications'. You'll get a push notification on your phone. Do you prefer an e-mail notification? You can turn this on through www.mijnafvalwijzer.nl. You can log in using your postal code and house number.

For Android devices, battery saving should be turned off for the Cure App. Is there a triangle with an exclamation mark with settings in the app? Check your phone settings.

iOS (Apple) can notify you that the max amount of notifications has been reached. This is because notifications are saved locally. We are working on this.

Residents of a one-family or upstairs apartment with backyard, use a grey waste container for residual waste and a green container for organic waste.

If you live in a flat or apartment, you can use the collective (underground) containers in your neighborhood.

Supermarkets and shopping centers have collective containers for glass, plastic waste and textiles.

Geldrop-Mierlo

If Cure cannot empty your container because of frozen contents, you will still be charged for emptying. Make sure that when there's frost at night, your container is in a sheltered spot. If the contents have frozen anyway, try to loosen them at the sides so the container can still be emptied.

More tips:

• Place a small piece of wood - like a stick - between the lid and the container, so that the lid does not freeze.
• Put a piece of newspaper or an egg carton at the bottom of your container.
• Do not tighten your waste.
• Let (garden) waste dry out before putting it in the container.
• Do not use salt to avoid frost, this will contaminate garden waste.
• Remove snow from the lid before offering your container.

New residents of an existing or new built home can request or trade their waste container for free within 6 weeks after registering. You can do this with our customer service. You need to be registered at the address. After 6 weeks you will pay €20,- per container for trading. In this case, you'll also pay for the delivery if it's concerning waste containers for a new build.

Valkenswaard

New residents of an existing or new built home can request or trade their waste container for free within 3 months after registering. You can do this with our customer service. You need to be registered at the address. After 3 months you will pay €25,- per container for trading. In this case, you'll also pay for the delivery if it's concerning waste containers for a new build.

The fees for the waste tax and emptying the containers are set each year by your municipality. You pay every time you offer your container for emptying. You are billed for this once a year (at the end of February).

It is not always possible for people with a physical impairment to get the container to the collection place. An 'exception sticker' allows you to offer your waste outside of your house, on municipal ground. If you are eligible, you can request a sticker through our customer service: 040 - 2500 130. Please list your name, address, phone number and the reason you're requesting the sticker.

The waste calendar shows you when waste is collected in your neighbourhood. You can also download our Cure app in the Google Play store or Apple Store to see an up-to-date waste calendar.

Eindhoven

• Place your container with the handle facing away from the street.
• The waste container cannot be heavier than 70 kg and the lid should close entirely.
• Big hard materials like tree trunks, wood, metals and construction waste cannot be disposed in your waste container. You can bring them to our waste recycling points.
• When a road is under construction, offer your waste somewhere reachable for our trucks, outside the road block.

Has your container not been emptied? Report it through the web form or contact Cure Waste Management customer service within two working days.

NB: We check all requests against our emptying log for your neighbourhood. If it turns out we were in your street on the emptying date, we will not come back an extra time. 

For Eindhoven and Geldrop-Mierlo this is 7:30.

For Valkenswaard this is 6:30.

Yes, it's possible to trade your waste container to another size. This is free in Eindhoven. In Geldrop-Mierlo you pay 20 euros and in Valkenswaard it's 25 euros for each waste container.

You can choose from two sizes:

140 liter

• 50,5 cm width, 55.5 cm depth and 110 cm height
• without waste, the weight is 10kg
• the container holds the contents of about 3 waste bags

240 liter

• 58 cm width, 75,5 cm depth and 110 cm height
• without waste, the weight is 13,5 kg 
• the container holds the contents of 4 to 5 waste bags 

In case of frost, there's a risk some containers can't be fully emptied because of frozen waste.

Cure shakes the containers extra, but cannot increase or the containers will break. It's not of use for us to come back after a report when the weather situation hasn't changed. The container still won't empty fully. 

We kindly request you present your waste container on time on the next collection day.

For Eindhoven and Geldrop-Mierlo, this is 7:30.

You can also download the free Cure Waste management app. This keeps you up to date on (temporary) changes and can give you notifications on collection times.

There is no separate calendar for catch-up days. The next and most relevant collection dates can be found in the digital waste calendar or the free Cure Waste management app. 

If you live on the ground floor of a flat or container, you can request an organic waste container (groenbak) through customer service. The conditions are that you should be able to store the container on your ground or storage and that there should be a collection route in your neighbourhood.

Organic waste is typically collected once every two weeks. You can present your green container (kliko) on your collection day. You find the schedule on our waste calendar. The amount of collection moments can be different in fall/winter.

• Put the container in a cool spot away from the sun.
• A few props of newspaper (or woodcurls, hay etc.) can be put at the bottom of the container to prevent leaving any organic waste behind.
• Airing the container, though it may sound contradictory, gets continuous air in the container, preventing excessive smells.
• Pack easily rotten food scraps like meat and fish in a newspaper before disposing of them.
• Do not throw moist waste in the container. For example, let your grass dry after mowing it.
• Clean the container regularly using water and maybe green soap. Do not use chlorine, this is bad for the environment.

If your container hasn't been fully emptied, this can be an inconvenience.

Check the contents of your container to see if there's no blockage. When the container is too tightly packed, this can also be a problem with emptying the container. 

In these cases we kindly request you remove the blockage. Present the container at the next regular collection date.

Cure does not provide extra collection in these cases.

Recognizing asbestos can be quite difficult. Most people know the example of corrugated sheets from roofs, but other building materials can also contain asbestos. Are you doing construction or renovation in a house built before 1994? Be wary of asbestos. Asbestos fibres can be freed by damaging material containing asbestos (by breaking, drilling or sawing for example). Breathing in these fibres can be bad for your health. Almost all applications of asbestos have been prohibited since 1993.

Asbestos can be present in corrugated sheets, old pipes for heating and sewer, old heater pipes, bathroom sheets and windowsills.

No, children under 16 cannot use the underground containers with their city pass. Use a Cure environmental card to open the underground container.

An underground container is a big collection container placed mostly underground. Residents of flats and (upstairs) apartments can use these for their residual and organic waste. The containers can be opened using a municipal card or Cure environmental card.

Residents of a one family or upstairs apartment with backyard use a grey mini container (kliko) for residual waste and a green mini container (groenbak) for organic waste.

If you live in a flat or apartment, you can use (underground) collection containers near you. 

Supermarkets and mall parkings have collection containers for glass, plastic or PBD and textiles.

If you're meant to use an underground container for your waste, you can open it with your Cure environmental card, municipal card or environmental card.

Are you unable to dispose of your waste? You can bring it to another container or bring it back home. Do not place the waste next to the container. You can be fined for €145,-.

Is the container full or faulty? We'd much appreciate if you'd report this in the municipality's BuitenBeterApp. We can fix the error as soon as possible or empty the container.

Please report the container number, this is on top of the container (white stickers with black numbers).

You'll need the following:

• if you aren't paying waste tax, you'll need a physical or online statement of the homeowner proving they either pay the waste tax or are willing to; 
• the amount of people living in the residence;
• the move-in date.

Then, contact Cure waste management at 040 - 2500 130.

The temporary card does not grant access to waste recycling points.

You can also collect five stickers and one Big Bag a year at our main office when showing your assessment/disposition, your ID and a valid Cure environmental card for your address. Each sticker or Big Bag is only presented when making an appointment for collection.

Geldrop-Mierlo municipality

The costs for collecting your bulky waste are 40 euro.

Valkenswaard municipality

The costs for collecting your bulky waste depend on the quantity.

• up until 2 m3: 41 euro
• from 2 m3 to 4 m3: 82 euro
• from 4 m3 to 6 m3: 123 euro

Eindhoven municipality

Residents of Eindhoven can also have their bulky waste collected at home. You can use a Big Bag or sticker. The stickers are meant to label big pieces or furniture, like a couch or bed (one sticker per object). Big bags are suitable for basically all types of bulky waste except for (small) chemical waste, car tires, company waste, electrical devices, asbestos containing objects and sharp glass. Both options have a maximum weight of 1000 kg. The Big Bags and stickers are for sale in the Cure webshop or at the customer service of Cure Waste management's main office on Achtseweg 45 in Eindhoven. You can visit Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:00. Please take into account that you always need a valid Cure environmental card. The webshop only accepts iDeal payments and on location only card payments are allowed. 

Free collection service for minima

You can contact customer service to have your bulky waste collected. 

 Conditions:

• You are a resident of Geldrop-Mierlo municipality.
• Waste presented as bulky waste cannot be longer or wider than 50x50x150 centimeter and can weigh 25 kilos maximum.
• 2 m3 of waste can be offered each time.
• All bulky waste should bundled properly. Four bundles can be offered each time.
• Bulky waste cannot contain construction waste, sand, glass, electrical devices, chemical waste or gardening waste.
• Presenting residual waste bags is not allowed.
• Presenting asbestos or eternite is also not allowed. This is checked by the environmental guard. 
• Waste that fits in the grey container should be presented here.

Valkenswaard municipality

For collecting your bulky waste at home you can make an appointment with Ergon at 06-22808882. They ride once a month. Reusable things can be brought to a second hand store. Depending on the store, collection at home is possible at times. Please inform locally.

Yes, this is possible. There are different rules and possibilities for each municipality. 

Eindhoven municipality

Residents of Eindhoven can have their old electronic devices collected at home. You can use a sticker. A device can way up to 1000 kilos. The stickers are for sale in the Cure webshop or at the customer service of Cure Waste management's main office on Achtseweg 45 in Eindhoven. You can visit Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:00. Please take into account that you always need a valid Cure environmental card. The webshop only accepts iDeal payments and on location only card payments are allowed.

You can contact customer service to have your electronic devices collected. 

 Conditions:

• You are a resident of Geldrop-Mierlo municipality.
• Waste presented as bulky waste cannot be longer or wider than 50x50x150 centimeter and can weigh 25 kilos maximum.
• 2 m3 of waste can be offered each time.
• All bulky waste should bundled properly. Four bundles can be offered each time.
• Bulky waste cannot contain construction waste, sand, glass, electrical devices, chemical waste or gardening waste.
• Presenting residual waste bags is not allowed.
• Presenting asbestos or eternite is also not allowed. This is checked by the environmental guard. 
• Waste that fits in the grey container should be presented here.

Valkenswaard municipality

For collecting your electronic devices at home you can make an appointment with Ergon at 06-22808882. They ride once a month. Reusable things can be brought to a second hand store. Depending on the store, collection at home is possible at times. Please inform locally.

If your paper waste wasn't collected, contact the Cure Waste management customer service within two working days.

If our GPS data shows we visited your street on the collection date, we will not return. You can present the paper waste on the next collection day.

You can see the next paper waste collection day on the waste calendar or the app. If the next moment is too far away, you can offer the waste at a collection point.

Present your paper waste on time. If the paper is presented too late, we will not return to collect it.

Paper waste is presented on the pavement at the side of an open road. Offer the waste in boxes or tie it together to prevent the wind blowing it away. If possible present your paper waste in a cardboard box, so this can be disposed too. If your paper waste is offered in your own crate or plastic container, Cure is not responsible for the possible loss or breaking of the crates. Make sure the packages are handleable in size and weight.

From March 6, 2023 Eindhoven has blue paper containers. Do you own a paper container? Don't present the paper loose - put it in the container. NOTE: presenting waste next to the container is not allowed!

The paper container is a container connected to your home. The two wheel container is used for collecting paper waste specifically. The container is grey with a blue lid. This blue lid signifies it being used for paper and cartboard. The container is often referred to as 'kliko'. 

The blue paper container is put at your front door at the delivery date. You do not need to be at home for this. When it's been delivered, the container is stored on your terrain. It cannot remain in public space.

The blue paper container is free. You do not have to pay for it. Even when you lose the container or it is broken, you can request a new one for free with Cure customer service.

You will only receive a paper container if you live in a groundbound home and use a grey container for residual waste and a green container for organic waste. Residents of a groundbound home who use an underground container will offer the paper loose for the time being. Residents of a flat or apartment will not receive a blue paper container. Residents of Eindhoven who use an underground container will receive more information about the changes in collecting paper waste later in 2023.

From 6 March 2023, Cure will start delivering blue paper containers in Eindhoven. This happens in phases. You will have received the blue container by 25 May 2023. You'll receive a letter with the specific delivery date beforehand.

Residents of Eindhoven currently offer their paper waste loose. This is very intensive work for Cure employees. It also causes excessive waste on the street, especially when it's windy or raining.

Paper waste is also very eligible for recycling. The condition is that there's no pollution. Residents using a closed container will lower the chances for pollution.

The blue container works in the same way the familiar green and grey containers do, but the blue container is meant specifically for paper waste. The blue container also has a separate collection day. This day can be found in your residences specific calendar.

An environmental card is a residential card for waste related business. The card grants access tp the two Eindhoven waste recycling points and can be used for opening (underground) waste containers. If you are paying waste tax, you have a right to one environmental card.

From January 1st 2022, there's an entrance fee for the Eindhoven waste recycling points. This means that after a certain amount of visits, a visit to a recycling point will cost money. To properly register the amount of visits, Cure has introduced the new environmental card.

As opposed to the old city card, the environmental card is not personal but residential. This means there's no personal information on the card and your privacy is protected.

The environmental card works basically the same as the old city card, but the environmental card is residential instead of personal. You can use it to access underground residual waste container and you should bring it to visit a waste recycling point. Your visits to the recycling points are registered on the environmental card.

Every household in Eindhoven will receive one environmental card in September and October of 2021. From November onward you can use the card for visiting the waste recycling points and opening the underground containers. From January 1st 2022 the fees for waste recycling points will be valid, which means you will only be able to enter a waste recycling point using your environmental card.

Cure Waste management and Eindhoven municipality aim for a cleaner city. We do this with you as a resident. We're investing in the thought that the polluter pays. This makes everyone aware of the costs involved with waste and pollution and will cause less pollution. It's also common for residents to pay for waste disposal in many municipalities.

“Mini container” is the official term for a waste container with two wheels. Kliko is a brand name that can only be used for mini containers produced by Kliko. Mini containers exist in different sizes. Cure Waste management uses two sizes of mini containers: 140 liters and 240 liters. 

Putting a chip in all containers makes it possible to maintain a 100% complete administration. We can quickly process the spread and replacement of containers. We can track containers that have been stolen or taken by residents. We can prevent containers being offered more often than allowed. Cure Waste management can align the routes with the way containers are offered. It becomes easier to manage containers and solve possible issues. The chip is connected to an address (object data), not to a person (name). The data is only used internally and not accessible to the public. The data is used in accordance with the Personal Data Registration Act. 

Each low-rise address in Eindhoven is obliged to have a grey container for residual waste and a green container for organic waste. The blue container for paper waste is not mandatory. If you don’t have one, you are obliged to separate your paper waste from residual waste. You cannot put paper waste in the grey or green container. You can no longer place paper waste by the street in boxes. If you do not want a blue container, you must dispose of your paper yourself by bringing it to a collective container or a waste recycling point.

Every household pays a yearly waste tax. We collect your waste against this fee. You’re charged extra for the container purchase, emptying the container, transport and personnel costs and the processing costs of your residual waste.

In Geldrop-Mierlo, PBD waste is collected at the house, separated in plastic bags. You can find the exact collection dates on the waste calendar. Are you out of bags? The plastic bags are available at the following (familiar) points: Geldrop municipality, the waste recycling point in Geldrop and the info counter at Albert Heijn, Nettorama, Jumbo (Geldrop) and Plusmarkt (Mierlo).

PBD waste is separated from the general waste after collection from January 2024 in Eindhoven and from January 2025 in Valkenswaard. From then on, there is no more separate collection for PBD in the municipality. 

Residents can put the PBD waste in the grey bin or in the underground container for household waste.

Separating at the source is separately collecting resources, like glass, paper and organic waste (GFT-E). Only a little bit of general waste is leftover. With separating after collection, plastic packaging, tin cans and drinking cartons (PBD) can go with general waste, to be removed afterwards in the factory.

There will be a smaller amount of general waste if all the resources are separated properly from the actual general waste. Think glass in the glass container, organic waste in the green bin, paper waste in the new blue bin. Sorting analyses show that there are too many useful resources in general waste right now. Especially plastic packaging, tin cans and drinking cartons (PBD) can be easily removed before burning with new techniques. This way, it can be turned into something useful. 

The change takes effect on January 1st, 2025. From this date, the underground and above ground containers for PBD will disappear from the streets. You'll put the PBD in your grey bin or the underground container for general waste.

No. The separation of PBD after collection is currently developed to a point where it's easy to remove it from general waste. This does not count for waste types like paper waste, organic waste and textiles. If these go in with general waste, they'll be burned. This way, we lose valuable, useful resources.

Collecting plastic packaging, tin cans and drinking cartons (PBD) with general waste, makes for less transport movement in Valkenswaard. This then makes for less CO2 and traffic. There's also a lot less general waste going into the oven, which lessens CO2 even more.

Generally, there's plenty of space for both general waste and PBD. By separating the rest of the waste properly, you leave enough space for your PBD waste. If not, you can have Cure trade your container from 140 litres to 240 litres. You can also request a second grey bin, either 140 litres or 240 litres. 

The max amount of grey bins per address is 2. PLEASE NOTE: when you request a second grey bin, you'll pay waste tax twice.
